Vico Persson transforms recycled materials such as food packages and discarded objects into collages and sculptures. Freshly returned to Antwerp after a residency at the Villa Empain in Brussels, he is now working on new collages and assemblage sculptural at T-Space in Antwerp.
Vico works across several media including drawing, ceramics, assemblage art and collage art. The collage series "Forms of Residue" is an ongoing production of works, started in 2022, in which he transforms leftover materials - such as food packaging and the last bit of residue paint - into abstract creations. Other work series include “Double Truth” and “Twin Flowers” where the artist combines real photos or vintage illustrations with AI created counterparts. By combining “real” images with AI-generated versions of the same subjects, thereby challenging our understanding of authenticity in an increasingly digital world.
