Kaori Ishiguro (°1991, Japan) is a creator and performer based in Antwerp.
She studied dance at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where she graduated in 2019.
Her work approaches creation in a multidisciplinary manner, delving into the intimate boundaries
between herself and others. Her work examines these connections through both physical and
sensory experiences.
Kaori is dedicated to breaking down the boundary between spectators and performers, not
through obvious interactive means, but by fostering a shared experience of being present in the
same moment. She believes in the importance of recognizing our collective presence in the ‘here
and now,’ aiming to create immersive works that make the audience gradually aware of their
interconnectedness. By observing others, the audience is invited to acknowledge themselves.
Her first choreographic project, HACHŌ, created in collaboration with musician Anton Lambert,
was performed at the Dansand! festival in 2021. Tenderness of the Stones is her second project.
