Adam Leech

Over de kunstenaar

Adam Leech (b. San Diego, USA) creates work driven by a fascination with the human spirit, delving into forms of consciousness and how they shape experiences, emotions, and relationships. His recent practice builds on his residency and exhibition at S.M.A.K. (Municipal Museum of Contemporary Art, Ghent, Belgium), where he explored the aesthetics of the mind, drawing on the ambiguities between scientific inquiry and social analysis.
For RADAR and Kunsthal Mechelen, Leech presents Between the Bed to the Studio, a project examining the artist’s daily—and nightly—routine. The work follows a protagonist who moves between sleep (and dreaming) and the physical labor of studio work, highlighting the interplay between these states. Through a poetic lens, Leech reveals how these realms interpenetrate and inform one another, reflecting a cyclical rhythm of creation and introspection.
In addition to Between the Bed to the Studio, Leech will exhibit a series of paintings that delve inward, searching for the elusive forms of our inner selves. These works navigate the complexities and layers of identity, combining intuition, dream-like states, and the tangible demands of material labor to create a compelling dialogue between the subconscious and the physical.
