About the artist

Today I am Home is a long term photographic project, the most representative for my work as an artist. It explores the meaning of home and the impact of distance on family relations. It also looks at the tied connection my family has with nature. The garden is a gathering place, a place where stories unfold, where we connect and heal.

I grew up in a small town in Romania. I spent most of my summer vacations helping my family working in the garden. After we moved from a small appartement into our house with a big piece of land, my parents' passion for plants turned into a family business. The empty land became a man-made paradise.

I left the nest to study photography in the United States, and after three years when I returned, I felt estranged by everything that once was familiar. So in order to reconnect, I started to photograph.
