She was born in Reet in 1961. She studied at the Sint-Maria Institute in Antwerp, the RHOK in Brussels under the direction of R.Broulim (lithography and reprint) and at the National High Institute for Fine Arts in Antwerp. She receives a first honorable mention at the K.Verlatprijs in 1988 and in 1991 the first prize K. Verlat, and the Germination fair in Aachen.

In 1992 she receives a scholarship for Japan from the Flemish Community. In 1993 and 1994 she received two honorable mentions for the Joris Minneprijs. In 1997 she is selected for the Provincial Prize Antwerp and for the Rotariale Brugge. She receives the second prize Lionsclub Leopoldsburg (1999) and the first prize Industry Prize 2001 Neerpelt.In 2015 and 2019 she wins the first prize 'work of art for married couples' of the city of Willebroek She exhibited at the N.H.I.S.K., Gallery 8 Antwerp, The Frans Masereel Center and in various private houses. She has collaborated on group exhibitions in Flanders, the Netherlands, Brazil, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Scotland and Japan. More info at www.hildevandenheuvel.com
Mijn eerste liefde was en is nog steeds de houtsnede, door gezondheidsproblemen is de monotypie in 2009 op mijn pad gekomen.
Ik heb John Lysak leren kennen in het FMC te Kasterlee en hij heeft me ingeleid in de YMCK monotypie. (Dark Field) .
Gedurende de daaropvolgende jaren verdiepte ik me in dit media en experimenteerde ook met de Monotypie op waterbasis met verschillende aquarels en papiersoorten. Door meerdere platen over elkaar te drukken na elkaar kwam ik tot een eigen methode die veel gelaagheid brengt die sterk doet denken aan een lavistekening van lithografie.
De werken die u in de tentoonstelling ziet behoren tot de darkfieldmethode waar men met zwart begint en daarna in meerdere drukgangen transparanten over elkaar zet."
