Ilke Cop

About the artist

Ilke Cop's practice exists at the crossroads of art history, identity, and representation, challenging inherited narratives and the roles society imposes. Grounded in research, she explores the stories shaping personal and collective landscapes, critically examining privilege and the representation of womxn. Her multidisciplinary approach spans painting, sculpture, drawing, and installation, creating works that suggest rather than declare. By reframing the gaze and disrupting hierarchies, her body becomes a site of resistance. The muse is active—speaking, disrupting, and creating.

Cop has a Master’s degree in Art History (2010) and Cultural Management (2011) and led a sustainable fashion brand (2015–2019). She is a co-founder of the Hyster-x Collective for womxn makers. Fully committing to art in 2019 and represented by Tatjana Pieters since 2022, exhibitions at Mudel Museum, Kunstenfestival Watou, and a number of remarkable solo projects have put her practice on the map. Nationally recognized with the 2024 Gaver Prize, she now expands internationally with upcoming shows in New York City (USA) & Treviso (IT).
