Five studios full of young talent

Werkhuis Genk is a creative work and meeting space for young thinkers and makers. You definitely have to visit us for the collaborative studios for young people. These studios provide our residents with a space where they can each develop their own personal studio. Discover the design students and their work brought to life here at the same time. Besides this, there's space for exhibitions, workshops, lectures, film nights, drawing cafés, concerts, and above all, experimentation.

Louis De Keyzer (born 1997) depicts absurd situations set in a playful, colorful, and improbable universe. Inspired by fantasy stories, popular culture, and current events, he paints strange scenes characterized by a combination of satire, dark humor, and childlike playfulness. These scenes confront the viewer directly through a striking color palette and unusual combinations of materials, such as paint and marker on canvas. In addition to his visual work, Louis is also active as a writer for the Krommenaas collective.

At Villa Von Trap—Loriene Lemmens's ceramics studio—creativity and nostalgia converge. Loriene transforms life's banalities into works of art. One such passion project is plat d'Ostend, a collection that pays tribute to the North Sea and its many terraces, fish markets, and beach huts. Three years ago, she left Flemish Brabant for the Belgian coast. This collection is her integration project as a new Ostend resident. Think aperitif lifebuoys, mussel pots, tomato shrimp vases, and more.

Manon De Bruyn (born 2000) focuses primarily on graphics and drawing. She explores a range of themes such as connection, childlikeness, and imagination. She translates these ideas into a diverse visual language that encompasses tattoos, murals, tapestries, and publications.

Broei.lab is the creative lab of Broei vzw. It's a shared studio where young people can freely experiment with art, media, and content creation, such as photography, film, audio, and music. Broei.lab stands for community, space, materials, workshops, and programs.

Broei.lab aims to actively connect and motivate young people to express themselves through various creative media, at their own pace and driven by their own interests.

As a Brazilian-Swedish artist and product developer, Lara explores the everyday objects and rituals we often take for granted. Her work—from recognizable objects and edible creations to installations and events—aims to spark dialogue. They invite reflection on our daily actions and the true value of things.
